BioPhysical Economic

Models for the

Format and Schedule

Our goal for this year’s conference is to bring scientist and practitioners from various disciplines together to discuss a wide array of topics that revolve around the changes that are impacting our society and world.

The conference will span five days.  Participants arrive on Wednesday June 10th. The meeting will have four main thematic sessions, each with associated hypotheses/discussion topics to focus the discussion.

Theme 1: Climate Change and Sociopolitical trends and their impact on the World we live in (Thursday)

Theme 2: Agriculture and water scarcity in the developed and developing world (Friday)

Theme 3: Complex Systems: Modeling Energy, Economics and Development. (Saturday)

Theme 4: Where do we go from here ... techniques and models for the next decade. (Sunday)

The sessions will be interdisciplinary and combine presentations of theoretical and practical biophyiscal economics models. Coffee and snack breaks will occur during morning and evening sessions.   Each day will be organized to ensure plenty of opportunities for small group discussions. Sessions will be filmed and those films will be published online on the conference website, www.ISBPE.org.  Thematic session discussions will be summarized and published on the conference website as well.

The conference session will terminate on Sunday June 14th. Conference attendees are welcome to leave the conference at that time. They are also welcome to stay an extra day and take a trip to Glacier National Park.  ISBPE has made arrangements with the biostation to allow conference attendees to stay an extra night (Sunday evening) and leave on Monday morning. That way they would have an opportunity to visit the park and fly out the following day.
